One person killed, another suffers life-threatening injuries after truck rollover near Portage
PORTAGE, Wis. — One person was killed and another person was injured after a crash on Interstate 39 near Portage Friday morning, the Wisconsin State Patrol says.
The single-vehicle crash happened just before 6 a.m. near Mile Marker 91. According to the State Patrol, the crash involved a pickup truck that rolled from the southbound lanes of the interstate into the northbound lanes.
Two people were inside the truck, with the driver, a 49-year-old woman from Ashland, Oregon, dying from her injuries. The passenger, a 55-year-old man from Oxford, Wisconsin, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to UW Hospital.
Both people will not be identified until family members can be notified.
Northbound lanes on I-39 were blocked for about two hours after the crash while investigators were on the scene. The State Patrol says the crash is still under investigation.
