PRESTON, Wis. — One person died and two people were seriously injured Saturday in a two-vehicle crash on Wisconsin 13, according to a Facebook post from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said they received a report of a two-vehicle crash at 5:36 p.m. The following investigation revealed that a car with two occupants was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed when it hit a truck that was attempting to enter Wisconsin 13 from Cottonville Avenue. When the car hit the truck, the passenger in the car was ejected from the vehicle.

The Adams County Medical Examiner’s Office pronounced the passenger dead at the scene. Both the driver of the car and the driver of the truck were airlifted to local hospitals, the post said.

An initial investigation suggested impaired driving and a high rate of speed might have been contributing factors to the accident. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene with help from the town of Rome Police Deparment, the Adams County Highway Department, Lifestar Ambulance, the Adams County Fire District, the Adams County Medical Examiner’s Office, LifeLink and the Nekoosa Ambulance Service.
