One dead in fatal crash in Town of Darien, police say
DARIEN, Wis. — One person was killed and another was injured in a fatal two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon, according to the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.
In a press release, officials said a Ford Freestyle SUV was traveling westbound on Highway 11/14 when it made a left-hand turn into the path of a Ram 2500 pickup, which was traveling eastbound. The Ram struck the Ford in the passenger side, causing severe damage.
According to the release, the Ram was driven by 19-year-old Cole Bischke, of Elkhorn. He was taken to the hospital with injuries. The severity of Bischke’s injuries are unknown. Police said the Ford Freestyle driver was identified as 56-year-old Tina Shafer, of Delavan. Shafer was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit is still investigating the crash.
