She worked as a secretary and stenographer at the State of Wisconsin Banking Department (now the Department of Financial Institutions) for 16 years from 1942 to 1958. It was there that she met her husband, Warren Roberts. They were married on September 7, 1957, and enjoyed many happy years in Madison. When her children were still young, Olive rejoined the workforce and was employed by the Madison Metropolitan School District. She worked as a Librarian’s Aid at Odana Elementary and Orchard Ridge Middle Schools. After retiring in 1985 Olive continued to work as a volunteer along with her dear friend Helen Villemonte in many elementary and middle school libraries in Madison.
Olive was a charter member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Parish and attended services there for more than 50 years. She was also a member of the Carefree Years Club, Madison Catholic Woman’s Club, Madison Civics Club, and the Red Hat Society.
Olive was a devoted, loving wife and mother. She treasured her friendships, many of which began when she was a girl. A gracious and lovely person, she possessed a gifted sensitivity to her family and friends. She enjoyed and appreciated beauty and the arts, especially ballet and music. She loved to have fun.
She is survived by a son, Craig (Mark Nofsinger) Roberts of Madison; a daughter, Patricia (Rev. Father Michael) Vanderhoef of Madison; a brother, Robert (Laura) Faber of Verona; and a sister Patricia Orvis of Madison.
