Officials release name of Janesville homicide victim

JANESVILLE, Wis. — The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Department has released the name of the victim killed in a Sunday homicide.

James C. Chestnut III, 40, died from homicidal firearm-related trauma in a Sunday morning shooting in the 600 block of West Racine Street, according to a news release.

The death is still under investigation by the City of Janesville Police Department and the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Department.

According to an incident report, Janesville police responded to a report of shots fired in the 600 block of West Racine Street around 5 a.m. Sunday.

Police are looking for 24-year-old Corvasie Weaver, of Joliet, Illinois, for the crime, according to the release.
