Officials ID teen driver suspected of drug use in fatal wreck
Police say speed and impaired driving contributed
Officials have identified the teenager arrested in connection with a fatal crash at an intersection Thursday night.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a report of a crash at 11:15 p.m. on Highway 51 at County Road CV in the town of Burke.
Officials said 18-year-old Noah A. Davis, of Madison, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer south when he struck a 2010 Hyundai Tucson SUV that was turning onto Highway 51 north from CV.
Davis is suspected of driving impaired and causing the crash, according to the report. Deputies said marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in Davis’ truck. Speed is also a contributing factor.
The 60-year-old man from Wisconsin Dells who was driving the Tucson died, deputies said.
Davis was arrested on preliminary charges of homicide by negligent use of a motor vehicle.
The name of the Wisconsin Dells man was not released Friday pending notification to family, officials said.
The highway was shut down in both directions for nearly 4 hours.
The crash is still under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the Dane County Sheriff’s Office or the tip line at 608-284-6900.
