Officials ID man killed after car crashes into power pole, bursts into flames
MEDINA, Wis. — Officials have identified the Sun Prairie man who was killed early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash in the Town of Medina.
Dane County deputies, Marshall police, Marshall fire and EMS were called to Langer Road off of County Highway T shortly after 1:15 a.m.
Sheriff’s officials said the driver, 23-year-old James H. Gerbitz, was going south on Langer Road when he failed to make a 90-degree turn, left the road, and crashed into a power pole. The car was engulfed in flames and Gerbitz, the only person in the car, was declared dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
