Officials ID Janesville man killed in head-on crash
TOWN OF LIMA, Wis. — A Janesville man was killed Monday evening in a head-on crash, according to a release from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called at 5:43 p.m. to Highway 59 near East Gould Road in the town of Lima on a report of a two-car head-on crash.
Investigators said 59-year-old William Moffatt Jr. was driving east on Highway 59 when he encountered a vehicle driving west in the eastbound lanes. Moffatt was killed in the collision.
The 52-year-old Whitewater woman who was driving the other vehicle was flown to UW Hospital in Madison in critical condition, officials said.
Deputies say they are not sure why the woman’s vehicle was in the wrong lane. There were no apparent signs of impairment at the scene.
The woman is at the hospital in critical but stable condition.
The woman could face traffic charges, but those have not yet been determined, according to the release.
