Officials ID driver killed in Fitchburg wreck as Stoughton woman
Stretch of County Road MM closed about 6 hours for investigation
MADISON, Wis. — One person was killed and another seriously injured in a Fitchburg crash Friday night, officials said.
The Fitchburg Police Department said officers responded to report of a two-vehicle crash on the 2500 block of County Road MM, between Irish Lane and Haight Farm Road at about 6:40 p.m.
A vehicle headed north on MM crossed the center line and struck a vehicle headed south, according to the report.
The driver of the vehicle headed south, Janet Marie Grady, 55, of Stoughton, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The driver of the vehicle that crossed the center line suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. A passenger in the same vehicle was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
County Road MM between Irish Lane and Haight Farm Road was closed after the crash and was reopened at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
Wisconsin State Patrol assisted Fitchburg police with the crash investigation.
