Officials arrest man following standoff at Boscobel home
BOSCOBEL, Wis. — Officials have arrested a man following the standoff at a Boscobel home Friday.
According to a news release from the Boscobel Police Department, authorities received a report of a man who barricaded himself in a home at 1306 Elm Street at around 10 a.m.
The release said the man was armed with a rifle and had a woman in the house with him. Police later identified the man as Bryant Matti, 32, of Eastman.
Police said a perimeter was made around the residence, and neighbors were told to evacuate the area.
Authorities said negotiation teams proceeded to call Matti on his phone inside the residence. He refused to surrender, leading to a standoff that lasted nearly six hours.
Officials said law enforcement entered the house after gun shots were heard inside. The release said a 20-year-old La Crosse woman was found with a gunshot wound on her lower right leg. Matti was also found and taken into custody.
The release said Matti and the victim were taken to a hospital for treatment. The woman was later transferred to a different hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Matti was treated for minor injuries and was taken to jail and booked on charges of first degree reckless injury, injury be negligent handling of a dangerous weapon, false imprisonment, criminal trespass to a locked dwelling and two counts of bail jumping.
