Officials address concerns spread on Facebook

A posting on Facebook that’s concerning some parents is prompting law enforcement officials to reassure the public about a former inmate.

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office said Colton Syverson was released from jail on Aug. 13 after serving a sentence. While he was at the jail, officials said he allegedly made threats, including a threat to commit suicide at a school and to try to convince students to commit suicide with him.

The threats were assessed by the Health and Human Services Department and were deemed to be not credible, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said is has had no contacts with Syverson and he is not wanted.

The flier shared on Facebook also appeared in the city of Delavan.

The Kettle Moraine School District sent a letter to parents to reassure them about the flier and the Delavan School District sent a note to its Facebook followers.
