Odette Emilienne (Sohier) Dorr
BARABOO, Wis. — Odette Emilienne Dorr, age 93, passed away on April 13, 2017. Odette was born to the late Leon and Suzanne Deltour, July 19, 1923, in Wassy, France. After the war, in 1946, she married the late Odean C. Dorr, who was serving in the U.S. Army in Europe, and they lived together in Reims, France, before moving to Madison, Wisconsin, in 1948.
Odette is survived by four children: Philip (Jenny) Dorr, of Sauk City, Wisconsin; Odean Dorr, of Arlington, Wisconsin; Clifford (Cynthia) Dorr, of Madison, Wisconsin; and Suzan (Alan) Chase, of Merrill, Oregon. She also is survived by four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Maurice Deltour and her first grandson, Leon P. Dorr.
Odette worked for many years as a Sales Associate at Manchesters, Moseleys, Ben Franklin and retiring, at the age of 86, from The University Book Store.
She was a people person and loved being around young people and children. She enjoyed celebrating her birthday at the Nitty Gritty, “Birthday Bar.” She would convince the bartenders to bend the rules by allowing her to have wine in her birthday mug because she was not a beer drinker. She enjoyed crocheting intricate doilies and knitting sweaters for her grandchildren and clothing for her doll collection.
A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at SUNSET MEMORY GARDENS CHAPEL, 7302 Mineral Point Rd, Madison.
