CROSS PLAINS-William Frank “Bill” Rodenschmit, age 83, passed away at home on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017.
He was born on May 14, 1934, the son of Frank and Juliana (Schmelzer) Rodenschmit. In July 1972, he married Janice M. Owen in Oregon, Wis.
Bill farmed on the family farm outside of Cross Plains. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Knights, St. Francis Xavier Catholic church and its choir.
Bill enjoyed all sports and followed all levels of competition, especially that of Wisconsin teams and players. After retiring he took up golfing and truly enjoyed travel and spending time in the North woods. Bill was always ready for a card game.
Bill is survived by his wife, Jan, sisters, Mary Ellen Raemisch, Carol Spencer, Susan Geishirt and Alice Atteln; brother-in-law, David Owen; sister and brother-in-law, Karen (Larry) Ladell and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Edwin, sisters AnnaMay Krantz and Helen Rodenschmit; brothers-in-law, Chuck Raemisch, Bert Krantz, Fran Spencer, Elmer Geishirt and Claire Atteln and nieces, Barb Ethun and Linda Behr.
A time to share memories will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017 from 4 PM until 7 PM with a prayer and rosary service to follow.
A family reflection and thankfulness will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who were by Bill’s side throughout his 83 plus years.
