CROSS PLAINS-Robert L. “Bobby” Rogers, age 48, passed away on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at his home.
Bobby was born on May 22, 1969, in Elizabeth City, N.C., the son of Herman and Claire Rogers. Bobby married Tracie L. Trappe on July 15, 2000, at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Cross Plains, Wis.
Bobby battled colon cancer since December 2015. He showed everyone his true grit by working through most of his diagnosis and treatment. Bobby enjoyed working as a carpenter his entire life. Every person who ever worked with him, loved him and appreciated his work ethic. Although Bobby didn’t completely embrace the Wisconsin weather, he embraced the Wisconsin spirit. He fit right in when he moved from Virginia in 1999.
Bobby also loved spending time with his three children. He watched all their sporting events and teased them mercilessly. Each one of them looked forward to spending time with “fun” dad.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 17 years, Tracie; daughters Ella Rose (16) and Jenna Rae (13), and son, Chase Michael (10); his parents; brother, Roy Rogers; sisters, Lisa Rogers and Claire Ahammou; sister-in-law Julie Rogers; father-in-law Gary Trappe; brother-in-law Daniel Trappe (Mary); and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is also survived by his incredible friend, Doug Brunner. Doug showed Bobby the true meaning of a best friend. Bobby was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Karen Trappe.
Funeral services will be held at ST. MARTIN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2427 Church St., Cross Plains at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, with the Rev. Jeff Tomberlin presiding. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, and also on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Valley Home Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established at the Monona Bank, 2615 Westview Court, Cross Plains, for donations to the family.
You will forever be in our hearts and minds. We love you.
