Michael F. Morgan, age 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, from complications to his respiratory and circulatory systems.
He was born on Feb. 5, 1941, in Monroe, the second child of his loving parents, Peter James and Marjorie A. (Muenich) Morgan. He graduated from Argyle High School in 1959, and obtained his undergraduate and master's degrees in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Wisconsin. Mike embarked on his professional career to help residents of counties or regions with infrastructure planning with projects in Madison and Spooner, Wis., Minnesota and Michigan, the Missouri Bootheel counties, and Anniston, Ala. He concluded his career in Valdosta, Georgia for the South Georgia Regional Commission where he retired in 2006, after more than 40 years of work.
Mike is survived by his sons, Barry F. Morgan, Maple Valley, Wash., and Gregory A. Morgan, Talkeena, Alaska; his younger brothers, Tom (Carol) Morgan of Monroe and Steve (Madeline) Morgan of Barneveld; his granddaughter, Emily Lane Morgan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Ann (Harlan) Walden.
Private family services will be held. Mike loved the outdoors and wanted to protect the environment for future generations. He encouraged others to experience nature firsthand. In recognition of his life by giving of himself to others who needed time or resources, the family suggests that in his memory, a gift of your time or other resources be considered for a charity of your choice.
