Marlene A. Woehler, age 81, passed away on January 17, 2018 at Avalon Senior Care.
She was born on June 19, 1936 in Black River Falls, Wisc., the daughter of Eloy and Clarice (Nelson) Baxter. She married Eugene E. Woehler on Sept 5, 1959 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Madison.
Marlene attended St. James School in Madison, and graduated from Edgewood High School in 1954. After graduation, she joined the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters; leaving in 1955 to continue her education. She then worked at the Department of Natural Resources until becoming a full time wife and mother. She returned to the workforce in the early '70's, serving as a legal secretary until her retirement in 1993. A naturally private person, Marlene possessed a sharp intelligence and quick wit. She was devoted to her family, who loved her deeply in return; she will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Woehler; daughter, Kristin Marlow; grandchildren, James Margaret and Molly Marlow all of Madison; brother, Joseph (Georgia) Baxter of Dubuque, IA.; sisters-in-law Kathie Baxter, Ann Baxter and Doris McMahon; and several nieces and nephews.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Eloy and Clarice Baxter; and brothers, Thomas and James Baxter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 312 Wisconsin Ave, Madison. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Friday at church. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
