Margaret M. Tansey, 98, of Platteville passed away peacefully Friday, August 11, 2017 with her family at her bedside at Manor Care Health Services, Plattteville. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Fr. John Blewett will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Margaret M. Margaret was born on March 28, 1919 to Wilbert and Mary (Jenamann) Womack. Margaret was united in marriage to Joseph Tansey on September 11, 1939 in Dubuque, Iowa. Six children came to bless their union in marriage. Margaret spent her married life raising their family, babysitting for relatives, and helping her husband feed livestock. After Margaret’s husband died on July 9, 1965 she began cleaning houses and local business offices in Platteville. She continued working into her late 70’s at which time she had knee surgery and could no longer work. Margaret never complained of hard work and never missed a day of it. Margaret also enjoyed cooking, watching Wheel of Fortune, trips to the casino, and bingo. She loved visiting with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. Margaret was especially proud that her great-granddaughter, Maegie, was named after her.
Margaret is survived by two daughters, Nora (Roger) Henry of Platteville and Mary Place of Belmont; grandchildren, Joe (Susan) Courville of Denton, TX; Sheri (John) Ramos of Louisville, TX; Tammy (Rick) Zoeller of Gillett, WI; Corey (Molley) Place of Benton; Kari (Marques) Hicks of Monroe; Jody (Jerry) Hamilton of Livingston; Shelly (Steve) Swenson of Mazomanie; Bob (Michelle) Henry of Platteville; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; daughter, Loretta Courville; three children in infancy; son-in-law, Wayne Courville; sisters, Florence Belken, Saloma Bausman, Lucille Rouse, and Lavina Farnum; brother, Wilbert Womack; and special friend, Ernest Dieters.
