Jacek Mary Jarema Cianciara

MADISON -Jacek Mary Jarema Cianciara, age 73, was born into eternal life on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Agrace HospiceCare, Inc., in Fitchburg surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 8, 1944, in Warsaw, Poland, the son of Kazimierz and Zofia Cianciara. Jacek was united in marriage to Rosemary Van Susteren on July 8, 1978 in Madison. 

While in Poland, he earned his Master’s Degree in Architecture and Urban Planning and went on to practice architecture for eight years in Poland, France and the United States.  While working as an architect at St. Marys hospital in Milwaukee he earned his PhD in Economics from UW Milwaukee in 1975.  In 1978 he moved to Madison where he worked as the senior corporate economist at Cuna Mutual Insurance and also worked for the Department of Revenue for the State of Wisconsin.  Jacek was instrumental in the founding of the Tridentine Mass Society of Madison in 2008, which promotes the celebration of the traditional Latin Mass. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Rosemary Van Susteren; his children, Lukasz (Jessica) Cianciara and children, Nicholas, Caroline and Stephanie; Anna Cianciara and children, Margot and Theo; Margaret Cianciara (Tylor) Paucek and children, Evan, Simon and Sofia; Mary Cianciara and Aleksander Cianciara; and brothers, Zbigniew(Krystyna), Janusz(Teresa) and Kazimierz(Krystyna).  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Aleksander and Jerzy Cianciara.  

A Pontifical Requiem Mass at the Throne will be held at ST. MARY PINE BLUFF CATHOLIC CHURCH, 3673 County Trunk P, Cross Plains at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018.  Burial will be in St. Mary Pine Bluff Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2018.
