Harvey Rudolph Hermsdorf

MCFARLAND, Wis. - Harvey Rudolph Hermsdorf, age 86, of McFarland, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 27, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born on Dec. 24, 1930, in Madison, the son of Rudolph and Adeline (Wollin) Hermsdorf. Harvey attended country schools in Deerfield and worked on area farms and for Garver Feeds. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Harvey married Patricia Beck on Sept. 8, 1951. God was very important in his life. Harvey was a very active member of Hope Lutheran Church, having served on the church council, Sunday School board and Hope Cemetery Association. He was also a member of Local #139 Operating Engineers, as well as, VFW #534 and enjoyed participating in the card club. He worked for the Town of Blooming Grove and Madison Stone and Gravel as a heavy equipment operator. Harvey also worked for Harold Homburg and George OLP (Homburg Contractors). He loved working road construction. A very talented and diverse individual, he also enjoyed building things, working in the garden, having lots of bird feeders to feed the birds and was able to complete any other projects that needed to be done. Harvey was a gentle, loving man who would do anything for anyone. He led by example in his strong work ethic, long hours and dedication. Whoever and whatever needed to be watched, Harvey was your man, he loved to babysit both children and dogs. Most importantly, however, was his wife, Patricia, whom he dearly loved and missed. Back in the day they would be seen either dancing or at card club, both of which they enjoyed doing together.
