LIBERTYVILLE, ILLINOIS - Harold H. Bowerman, age 78, of Libertyville, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018.
He was born on April 23, 1939, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Harold Bowerman and Barbara Mildred Schliemann.
Harold married Sharon Kroneman on Dec. 15, 1973, in Rocky River, Ohio.
Harold was an accomplished and brilliant scientist in Chemical Engineering, and received his PhD from Washington University in 1967. From 1978 until his retirement, he worked as a senior principal engineer at Baxter Health Care Corporation. His work was published in many academic and professional journals, and he has several U.S. Patents in the field of applied research, development, and production of products and processes related to plastics and rubber technology.
Harold was professionally affiliated with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Polymer Processing Society, Society of the Sigma Xi, Alpha Chi Sigma, Tau Beta Pi and the Society of Plastics Engineers.
Throughout his life he enjoyed gardening, fishing, astronomy, skiing, traveling, jukebox collecting and restoration, the University of Wisconsin Badgers, and was a lifelong devoted fan of his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
Harold is survived by his wife, Sharon; two sisters, Barbara (Craig) Walker and Nancy (Bill) Flowers; brother, Harley Bowerman; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018. A light lunch will be available throughout the visitation with a brief time of remembrance at 1:45 p.m. Graveside services and burial will follow at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, at 2:15 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018.
In honor of Harold's lifelong devotion to the St. Louis Cardinals, please wear a bit of red in remembrance of his passion.
Memorials may be gifted in Harold's name to the American Heart Association.
