MONONA-Gerald H. "Jerry" Monson, age 80, of Monona, passed away suddenly on Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, at UW-Hospital from injuries sustained in a fall.
He was born on Dec. 15, 1937, in Fargo, N.D., the son of Herbert and Cordelia (Westrum) Monson. He married Bonnie Monson on Aug. 9, 1958. He worked as an architect for Flad and Associates for 45 years, retiring in 2008, at 70 years old.
Jerry had an excellent sense of humor and a love of family. Bonnie would say his second job was a stand-up comedian. He also acted in a social play group with his wife for many years.
Jerry was a creative, detail oriented man, who would draw everything, a trait he shared with daughter, Jana, an accomplished artist. He loved music, singing and dancing, and found humor in all things. A devoted father, and a loving husband, he would be there for all his family.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Bonnie; sons, David Monson (Sandy DeMoss), Mike (Barbara) Monson and Tom Monson; daughter, Jana (Steven) Gerbitz; grandchildren, Adam Monson, Mitch Monson, Ethan Monson (Katie Edgington); with great-grandchild, Hazel Monson; sisters, Janet (Richard) Pratt and Judy Ruliffson; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at MONONA METHODIST CHURCH, 606 Nichols Rd., Monona, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018.
