Ann Marie Hanson, age 92, died Tuesday March 13, 2018 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby.
She was born at home to Palmer and Minerva (Peterson) Jothen August 13, 1925. As an only child, her many cousins were like siblings. She walked through woods and pastures to attend the Oium country school and had the privilege of graduating from Westby High School in 1943. She was a bookworker for Farmer’s Union, E.M. Bekkedal Tobacco Co. and Lorillard Tobacco Co. meticulously balancing her accounts to the penny.
In 1950 she married Virgil Hanson at North Coon Prairie. Since there was no running water or electric stove her dad had to haul wood and water to the church hall to make coffee and wash dishes.
Ann and Virgil devoted their lives to farming and raising their girls, Ingrid and Sarah.
Ann was dedicated to her faith and church. She served as WELCA President, Vice President and Treasurer several times, worked on numerous committees and was a volunteer financial secretary in the church office for over 30 years. She also helped assemble the church newsletter and make lefse with the “Holy Rollers”. Virgil died in 2010.

Immediate survivors include her daughters and son in laws Ingrid & Bob Constalie, and Sarah & Glen Schmocker; her grandchildren Kyle & Kate Constalie, and Sam Schmocker; her nephew and his wife Michael & Janet Berger; and her extended family: Mary Constalie, Jenny, Mark, Erik and Elsa Luebke.
