MADISON, Wis. — A man was pistol-whipped in the head Wednesday night by a stranger who reportedly kicked-in the victim’s bedroom door and fired a bullet inside the room.

Madison police responded to the 1900 block of Northport Drive around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a report that someone fired a gun in an apartment. While at the scene, police learned that the victim had friends over at his apartment when he heard a commotion coming from the front.

When the victim was about to walk out of his bedroom to investigate, another man kicked in his bedroom door while armed with a handgun and demanded the victim give him “his stuff.”

The suspect, who was unknown to the victim, hit the victim in the head with the gun. The suspect then shot a round through the bedroom door, which then went through an interior wall and into the ceiling.

Police said they canvassed the building’s other apartments, but didn’t get any answers from the adjacent units.

Authorities said their investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Madison Police Department at 608-255-2345.
