North Madison elementary school on lockdown
MADISON, Wis. — A north Madison elementary school took extra safety precautions briefly Friday afternoon, a school district spokeswoman said.
Rachel Strauch-Nelson said police informed the Madison Metropolitan School District Friday that officers were conducting an investigation in the area near Gompers Elementary, so the school is keeping students from going outdoors.
Strauch-Nelson said the school doesn’t consider it a lockdown, but said it’s a safety precaution in which they don’t send the kids outside. She said a note will be sent out to parents later Friday.
Gompers Elementary is at 1502 Wyoming Way.
