North Dakota spoils Badger hockey home opener

The Wisconsin Badgers men’s hockey team had its first lead of the season but couldn’t hold on as North Dakota defeated the Badgers in their home opener. 4-3 at the Kohl Center Friday night.

Chase Drake scored twice for Wisconsin and Grant Besse had two assists as the Badgers doubled their goal total from their previous three games.

Wisconsin (0-5-0) got 39 saves from goaltender Joel Rumpel in the loss.

North Dakota is now 6-1-1 and is ranked second in the nation.

Tonight’s attendance for the home opener was 10,605.
