‘None of them deserved this’: Friends of Brittany McAdory, Seairaha Winchester, reflect following homicide
JANESVILLE, Wis – Friends and family of the two women killed in a Janesville double shooting will hold a candlelight vigil Tuesday night.
On Tuesday afternoon, authorities identified the women as Brittany McAdory, 27, of Janesville, and Seairaha Winchester, 30, also of Janesville.
“None of them deserved this,” said Bri Neeley, who helped to organize Tuesday night’s vigil. “There’s now six kids without a mother.”
Neeley says she met Brittany McAdory when the two were both children. “I was like one of her first friends when she moved to Beloit,” she said. “We had a little five or six girl group that we hung out with every day. We were inseparable.”
Neeley said McAdory was a loving friend and mother.
Family members shared these photos of Brittany McAdory with me earlier today. They say they capture her spirit, which they describe as spunky, happy, and loving.

“She was outgoing and had a huge heart. She was just her own character,” she said.
Brontae Hibbler, who also helped to organize Tuesday’s vigil, remembers Seairaha Winchester as a loving friend.
“She was an amazing woman. An amazing mother. She would give the shirt off her back for everyone,” Hibbler said.
Both Hibbler and Neeley say it’s still difficult to process what happened.
“I would never see it coming, with either of them,” Neeley said. “Their family didn’t deserve it, their children didn’t deserve it.”
As of Tuesday afternoon, Janesville Police had not announced a suspect in the shootings. On Monday, the department announced it would devote nearly one-fifth of its staff to find the party responsible.
“It’s not going to bring them back,” said Hibbler. “It’s going to put a little relief that the person is caught, but it’s still not going to help us grieve. They won’t get to walk through the front door, bathe their children, watch their children graduate from high school, all of of that. It’s not going to be the same.”
Janesville Police ask anyone with information that could lead to an arrest call their crimestoppers line at 608-756-3646.
