No suspects in custody for Columbia Co. homicide, victim’s family share more about his life

There are no suspects in custody for the homicide of 35 year-old Keith Wolf, who died from a gunshot wound Friday, according to Columbia County Sheriff Roger Brandner.

Brandner says he doesn’t know if there is any danger to the public at this time.

Wolf’s mother, Mary Eisele, and brother, Jesse Wolf, believe he died protecting his family.

Wolf was found dead after his wife told police he was checking for a potential intruder after hearing a noise in the basement, according to officials.

Eisele says the past couple of days have been hard, especially knowing how it happened.

“And how bad it was, you know how it happened is just hard to understand and right now, my faith is being tested,” Eisele said. “I pray to God that I can get through this.”

Eisele says Wolf was very loving and cared deeply for his family and friends.

“He would call me on the phone and tell me that he loved me to the moon and back, forever and ever,” Eisele said.

Wolf’s older brother says he has fond memories of watching his little brother grow up.

“We would always wrestle when he was little, and we would always pretend like we were at the state wrestling tournament and I would pin him, and he was so competitive,” Wolf said.

Wolf’s family and friends are turning to each other to remain strong.

“Think of all the good memories we do have of him. Do our grieving, but don’t stay in the past. We must move forward from this. Always remember and always keep in touch with the rest of the family,” Eisele said, adding that Wolf’s friends are also family.

More than anything, Wolf’s family is proud of who he was.

“I was pretty fortunate to have a brother as good as he was, I mean, I couldn’t ask for, seriously, I couldn’t ask for anything better,” Wolf said. “Everything he did and all the pictures that I would see would bring a tear to my eye because I was so proud.”
