No injuries reported after school bus backs into vehicle, deputies say

No injuries were reported after a school bus driver backed into another vehicle, deputies said.

A deputy with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash on East Liberty Street in Belmont shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday.

The bus driver, Scott R. Peterson, 64, of Darlington, was backing out of a parking lot when he backed into a Subaru owned by Kelly A. Abernathy, 49, of St. Croix Falls, according to a release by the Sheriff’s Office.

The bus involved is owned by the Belmont School District, the release said.

No injuries were reported, according to the release.
