MADISON, Wis. - When Rafael Adame woke up Saturday, he was surprised by what he saw.
"It was a nice day yesterday so I was like I'm gonna wake up, it's gonna be another nice day," Adame said. "I guess not."
He spent his morning shoveling more than a foot of snow from his driveway.
"It just felt crazy seeing that much snow outside," said Adame. "I didn't want to shovel at all. I just felt lazy. I wasn't expecting it."
Bryan Johnson of the City of Madison Streets Division knows better than anyone that a snowy March isn't unheard of.
"Even though it's technically spring, our plows are not put away yet," said Johnson. "It's spring in Wisconsin so of course it's gonna snow, and it feels terrible every time it happens, but it's not unusual."
Across the Madison area this morning, slippery roads and accumulating snow left many drivers in sticky situations.
"Winter's not done with us yet, so hopefully you haven't put away those winter driving skills even though some of us may have put away the snowblowers," said Johnson.
But Johnson says today's storm is just a detour on the way to warmer days.
"It's almost time to go out and enjoy that Wisconsin spring and we definitely will have earned it this year," said Johnson.
