Police: Beloit man steals wallet off person's lap.

BELOIT, Wis. - A Beloit man is facing felony theft charges after allegedly stealing a wallet off a person's lap, according to police.

The incident occurred at 1:13 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of North Parker Drive and East Milwaukee Street in Janesville, police said.

 The victim reported being at a stop light when  Jermone D. Stewart, 33, allegedly approached the vehicle and took their wallet from their lap, police said,

Stewart allegedly fled but was found by a K-9 unit. Police said he consented to a body search and had the victim's property.

Stewart is being held at the Rock County Jail where he is awaiting his initial court appearance.
