Plaque honoring 'Fighting Bob' La Follette unveiled at Wisconsin State Capitol

Doug La Follette, "Fighting Bob's" first cousin twice-removed, previously said he walked past the bust of his late relative for decades before realizing there was no plaque explaining who the progressive lawmaker was.

"Now is the time to give everyone who visits the Capitol the ability to learn who this great person was," the secretary of state said.

The State Capitol Executive Residency Board previously approved a proposal to install the plaque on the condition that Doug La Follette would raise the money to make the project happen. Last week, La Follette said he had raised $1,200 of the $2,700 cost but intended to foot the rest of the bill.
