MADISON, Wis. - Great cities are made up of a strong line-up of unsung heroes.
They are folks with vision and wisdom and uncommon commitment and heart. Forward Community Investments has done an exceptional job in recognizing such community assets with its Nan Cheney March for Justice Award, named for just such an unsung hero, social and economic justice champion Nan Cheney. Karen Menendez Coller was the first winner, then Will Green.
This year’s award honoree is similarly inspired, Hedi Rudd. Hedi has been a community leader and tireless community advocate for more than two decades.
The list of organizations she’s worked for, or with, is impressive, including the City of Madison Equal Opportunities Commission, Affirmative Action Department, UMOJA Magazine, United Way, Community Shares, the Urban League and on and on. She is currently Neighborhood Center Director at Badger Rock and the Center for Resilient Cities. And she is the deserving winner of this year’s March for Justice Award.
