Group hosts ‘Unhappy Birthday’ event for 10-year anniversary

“The everyday person should not continue to be drowned out by the giant megaphone that the Citizen’s United decision gave the wealthiest individuals, and to wealthy corporations and special interests,” said State Rep. Lisa Subeck to event attendees.

Supporters of the Supreme Court’s majority decision argue it serves to protect political free speech guaranteed by the First Amendment.

Critics of the decision argue that corporations aren’t people therefore should have limited influence over policy, law and elections.

The event featured performances by Too Sick Charlie and the Raging Grannies.
