Deleste, Lewis to take on new roles at News 3

Michelle Li to leave station for Seattle June 17

Two familiar Madison journalists will take on new roles at WISC-TV News 3.

Charlotte Deleste will move from mornings to anchor News 3 at Six and News 3 at Ten. Weekend anchor Dannika Lewis will join Madison's No. 1 morning news team on News 3 This Morning.

News 3 anchor Michelle Li will leave Madison's news leader after three years as an evening news anchor. She will start working at KING-TV in Seattle later this month. Li's last day at News 3 is June 17.

"Michelle Li's contributions to our station and community have been outstanding, and we will miss her, "WISC-TV News Director Colin Benedict said. " We looked at candidates to replace her from across the country, but we have a very deep bench at WISC-TV and it was clear our best choices already work here in Madison."

Deleste is a Marquette University grad and has worked for WISC-TV since 2006. She has previous experience as an evening anchor in Milwaukee and Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. She also has deep roots in the community having co-founded Gio's Garden, a nonprofit organization providing respite for families with children with special needs. She will co-anchor News 3 at Six and Ten with Eric Franke.

"I'm over-the-moon excited for the opportunity to join the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. team and to serve the viewers of south central Wisconsin," Deleste said. "However, the morning show family will always remain close to my heart and I will forever miss working with each of them."

Lewis is originally from Maryland and has been a member of the News 3 team for four years, first as a reporter and then as weekend anchor for the last two years. In that time, she's been honored for her work as a reporter and anchor. She is excited to help wake up Madison viewers and prepare them for the day every weekday morning with Adam Schrager, Haddie McLean and Eden Checkol.

"Though it will probably take an exorbitant amount of caffeine, I'm thrilled to join Adam, Haddie, and Eden," Lewis said. " I've worked with the team for short stints in the past, and it was truly awesome.  I only expect more of the same."

"We know Charlotte and Dannika are deeply invested in informing this community and making it a better place to live," Benedict said. "We couldn't have found anyone better to help lead our news teams."

Lewis will join the morning team June 27. Deleste will take on her new role in the evening newscasts July 11.
