Panelists from WI DATCP, DFI, BBB, FTC

MADISON, Wis. - Experts from multiple consumer protection agencies offered advice on how to report scams and protect personal information in a special Facebook Live event Wednesday on News 3.

News 3 is partnered with the Wisconsin Bureau of Consumer Protection, the Federal Trade Commission Bureau of Consumer Protection, the Department of Financial Institutions and the Better Business Bureau serving Wisconsin to take viewer questions on consumer issues in light of National Consumer Protection Week.

The event had a statewide impact with News 8 also livestreaming the event in La Crosse

Many of the questions centered around whether or not to report scams and how to report them if you do.

"We want to make sure that people do keep reporting even if they've heard about that information because they may have the one link or piece that we need to identify who is perpetrating the scam that's going around," said Michelle Reinen, director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.

You can report scams by visiting the consumer protection website
