Teenager chased by good Samaritan drops purse, police say

MADISON, Wis. - A good Samaritan chased a would-be robber who snatched a woman’s purse Saturday morning, Madison police said.

A teenager grabbed a woman’s purse just before noon outside the Dollar Store in the 600 block of South Whitney Way, according to a release.

A 42-year-old Madison man witnessed the purse snatching and chased the teenager, causing him to drop the purse just before getting into the back of a black SUV, officials said.

The good Samaritan returned the purse to the woman, who was so upset that she left before police arrived, according to the release.

Detectives believe this incident is connected to other similar strong-armed robberies that occurred over the last week.
