Puppy returned to family days after it was stolen, Madison police say

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies found the stolen puppy when they responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 51 at the I-90 ramp in the Town of Burke. While investigating the crash, deputies spotted a puppy matching Doyle’s description.

Deputies were able to confirm the dog was Doyle thanks to the help of a 24/7 veterinary clinic.

Doyle was returned to his family on Wednesday.

DCSO officials said the driver of the vehicle Doyle was found in, a 15-year-old male, was arrested and cited for absolute sobriety. He was released to his mother and was uninjured. The teen said he bought the puppy at a yard sale.

Police said the family’s house was broken into early Tuesday morning and Doyle was among several things taken by the burglars.
