Police: Man snatches woman's purse outside Target, flees in stolen van

MADISON, Wis. - A man stole a woman's purse in the parking lot of a west Madison store Friday morning, police said. 

Madison police said a 40-year-old woman was in the lot at the Junction Road Target headed into the store at 8:53 a.m. 

Police said a young man approached the woman and ripped her backpack-style purse from her shoulder. He jumped in a minivan and drove off.

Police said the van is listed as stolen from the town of Madison.

The thief was described as black, in his teens to early 20s with a thin to average build. He was wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt with the hood up.

A 45-year-old woman's purse was snatched at the Walgreens on Whitney Way on Tuesday, police said.
