Former state trooper pleads guilty to child-porn charges

MADISON, Wis. - A former state trooper from Cambridge pleaded guilty Monday to five counts of felony possession of child pornography in Jefferson County.

Frank Richard Torrez was arrested in February on 10 counts of felony possession of child porn after videos depicting children performing sex acts were found on electronic devices in his home.

Torrez had been a state trooper since 1994 but resigned amid the allegations in February.

Torrez allegedly admitted to possession of the devices and downloading the files, according to the criminal complaint. During the search, more than 80 digital storage devices were found in his home. A digital forensic examiner found dozens of videos of child porn on a storage drive.

Torrez is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 21.
