WAUNAKEE, Wis. - Four teenage boys were arrested Monday morning following a report of a burglary and the pursuit of a stolen vehicle in Waunakee, police said.
Waunakee police responded around 8:20 a.m. to a report of a burglary that just happened on Woodbridge Trail, according to a release from police. The resident confronted the people, who fled from the residence in a black Ford Fusion.
A license plate was provided and officers determined the vehicle had been stolen out of the city of Middleton, officials said.
While looking for the stolen vehicle in several Waunakee neighborhoods, police received information that the stolen vehicle was in the area of Bellewood Drive and Tuscany Lane, according to the release. Police found the vehicle shortly after that, but the driver did not stop for officers and attempted to flee the area.
Waunakee officers pursued the vehicle south on County Road Q, but while the driver was speeding away, the vehicle lost a tire and became disabled in the middle of the road, officers said. When the car stopped, four teenagers ran from the vehicle.
Officers chased the four teens on foot. The teens, ranging in age from 14 to 16 years old, were taken into custody, according to the release. They face tentative charges of operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, burglary, resisting and obstructing an officer and recklessly endangering safety.
