3 Janesville robberies occurred on two blocks over past weeks, police say

JANESVILLE, Wis. - The Janesville Police Department is requesting information from the public about a string of three armed robberies that took place on and around the same two blocks since Dec. 20, 2018.

According to police, all three robberies took place in the 2800 and 2900 blocks of Woodlane Drive and the adjacent area after 11 p.m. by a suspect described as being a black or Hispanic male with a slim build, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, wearing dark clothing and concealing his face.

Police said that the suspect demanded money or property from the victims as they were walking in the area while displaying a handgun. Two of the victims were struck in the head with the handgun.

Authorities said that citizens walking in the area should consider walking in pairs and pay careful attention to their surroundings.

Police requested that anyone with information about the robberies call the Rock County Communications Center at 608-757-2244 or Crime Stoppers at 608-756-3636.
