News 3 to launch weekend morning news Nov. 4
WISC-TV will expand its top-rated morning newscast to the weekends. News 3 This Morning Saturday and Sunday will launch November 4-5.
The live Saturday newscasts will be available before and after CBS This Morning, running from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m and from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. The Sunday local news program will precede CBS Sunday Morning from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m.
“As the market leader during the week, we know we have viewers that expect us to be on Saturday and Sunday,” WISC-TV news director Colin Benedict said. “This news expansion gives us a chance to immediately connect with more viewers and give them the information they need.”
The show will be anchored by Brittany Paris, who recently joined the News 3 team from Morgan Murphy Media sister station KXLY in Spokane, Washington.
“I think a weekend morning show is a great opportunity to connect with viewers and engage with them,” Paris said. “We’ll of course be on top of breaking news and weather but we’ll also showcase fun things you can do with your family and make sure you’re prepared for the day.”
Paris will also be part of the station’s reporting team on News 3 This Morning during the week.
With the addition of these newscasts, the Apostolate to the Handicapped Mass will move from its regular time period of 7 a.m. to 6 a.m. each Sunday on WISC-TV. At the same time, the station is adding another broadcast of the Mass at 7 a.m. on TVW (3.2 with an antenna, Charter cable channel 14).
