New splash pad coming to Blue Mound State Park
Group donates $100,000 for new pool
MADISON, Wis. — A new splash pad is expected to open next summer at Blue Mound State Park.
The Department of Natural Resources said Friends of Blue Mound State Park donated $100,000. That money will be used to build a new swimming pool and splash pad.
The DNR said Blue Mound State Park is Wisconsin’s only state park with a pool that was built in the 1970s. The DNR said it was in need of repairs and upgrades.
The new pool will be around 2,000 square feet with a maximum depth of four feet. The splash pad will feature spray trees in a park-like environment.
The DNR said construction has started, with the removal of the old pool this week.
