New Hilldale boutique feels like home

Sometimes when you walk into a store it just feels right. And Kate Kazlo’s The Home Market is one of those places. This expertly curated boutique located at Hilldale utilizes every square inch of space to showcase inspirational home vignettes, including dining room, bedroom and living room spaces to chic effect.

Kazlo opened her first location in 2006 in Milwaukee’s stylish Third Ward and replicated the look here 10 years later. “I always wanted this to be a one-stop market where you could get everything for your home,” she explains. “We really strive to find unique items for the market that fit with my aesthetic, which is simple, elegant and beautiful.”

Neutrals reign supreme in Kazlo’s boutique and set the stage nicely for pops of color in artful throw pillows, colorful candles, home accessories and fun rugs. “If you have great base pieces, it’s fun to layer on unique pieces,” adds Kazlo.

Shoppers can buy plenty of items off the floor, such as Juliska stoneware and tableware, wall hangings and decorative items, or they can go custom and order special bedding from Pine Cone Hill, made-to-order furniture from Lee Industries out of North Carolina, or a Dash & Albert rug.

The Madison market has been quite, shall we say, homey already for Kazlo: “There is so much wonderful foot traffic and energy at Hilldale,” she says. “The energy of Madison is amazing. And when people come in here, they say they feel like it’s their home.”
