New Chipotle menu item includes cheese from local Wisconsin farms

Outdoor lovers sound off on mines, wells, farms in survey

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. —  Chipotle Mexican Grill announced a new queso Wednesday afternoon that will feature Monterey Jack cheese from local farms in Wisconsin.

According to a news release, “Queso Blanco” is now available nationwide. The new recipe will have 13 ingredients, including Monterey Jack, white cheddar, serrano and chipotle peppers.

The Monterey Jack cheese is made from a mid-size family farm in Barneveld. Bryanna Handel and her husband started their farm in 2014 with just 16 cows and now own a 103-acre farm with 65 milk cows.

Handel’s farm aligns with Chipotle’s effort to support local farmers who are committed to raising or growing ingredients with the welfare of animals and the environment in mind.
