National Guard troops return from overseas

About 80 members of the Army National Guard are scheduled to arrive home after serving 10 months in Afghanistan.

The troops will be greeted Friday afternoon by Gov. Scott Walker and senior Army National Guard leaders. The ceremony is set for 1:45 p.m. at an Experimental Aircraft Association hangar in Oshkosh.

The troops are members of Battery B, 1st Battalion, 121st Field Artillery, based out of Plymouth.

Their mission was to conduct so-called fire-support missions. That involves firing rockets from a specialized truck-mounted frame.

The battery returned to the U.S. last week. The soldiers spent several days on post-mobilization requirements at Fort Bliss, Texas.
