Nancy J. (Carey) Driscoll
MADISON – Nancy J. Driscoll, age 84, reunited with her loved ones on Monday, October 30, 2017, peacefully at her home. Nancy was born on June 21, 1933 in Chicago, IL to John and Isabelle (Fogarty) Carey. She married William J. Driscoll on January 29, 1955 at St. Ethelreda in Chicago, IL. They spent their married lives in Chicago and later moved to Madison in 1968. They raised their five children and were together until he preceded her in death in 1988. Nancy worked at American Family Ins. where she met her future husband, Richard Nelson. They married in 1996. She was a fierce tennis player, leisurely golfer, fantastic cook, a knitting machine, avid reader, a life-long-die-hard Cub’s fan and a conflicted Bears/Packers fan. Holidays won’t be the same without her signature dishes and time management coordination and she will be greatly missed.
Nancy is survived by her children, Bill (Carlene), John (Krista), Kate (Luis) Driscoll-Sanchez, Tom (Amy) and Matt (Rose); grandchildren, Ben, Kelly, John Jr., Kristina (Brandon) Vaccaro-Smith, Ali Vaccaro, Holly Vaccaro, Patrick Sanchez, Sean, Liam and Madeline; great grandchildren, Colton, Mason and Remi Smith. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and her ever caring friend, Jane Stauter. Nancy is preceded in death by her husbands and sister, Jacqueline Pikes.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11am on Monday, November 6, 2017 at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 North Sherman Avenue, Madison, with Msgr. Charles Schluter presiding. A visitation will be held from 10am until time of Mass on Monday at the church. Burial at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
