MADISON, Wis. — Myrtle Clara Maly, age 88, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on Dec. 2, 1928, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Theodore and Clara (Neuman) Yerges. She married Frank Maly on June 8, 1946. Myrtle, a woman that, while being challenging, as many of you know, was filled with love for her family, friends, nature and wildlife, especially birds, and specifically Cardinals. Myrtle worked for Shopko until her retirement in 2003, at which time she became a full-time babysitter for her great-granddaughter, Sydney, and then went on to care for Sydney’s younger brothers, Hunter and Parker. In her spare time, she loved working in her yard, traveling, shopping and enjoying an ice cold Coors Lite at her favorite bar, The Green Lantern in McFarland. She leaves behind many family and friends who will carry on her vibrant spirit. Myrtle is survived by her son, Michael (Gregory) Maly; grandchildren, Amanda, Ryan, Allison, Nicole, Andy, Matthew, Jonathon and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Max, Evie, Alaina, Sydney, Hunter, Parker, Tyler, Colton, Isaac, Sam and Tucker; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Maly; son-in-law, Tim Herr; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; son, Peter Maly; daughter, Patricia (Maly) Herr; and Robert Van Malsen. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens immediately following the visitation.
