Multiple vehicles stolen from same Verona home overnight

VERONA, Wis. — The Verona Police Department says multiple vehicles were stolen from a single home and another vehicle was taken from a neighboring home overnight.

Police say both people woke up around 5 a.m. Monday to find their cars gone.

One of the victims told Verona police they had three separate vehicles stolen from their driveway. Police say whoever stole the cars were able to get inside the home on Military Ridge by taking a garage door opener from an unlocked car in the driveway, then stole three sets of car keys from inside the home to take all three cars.

Another vehicle was stolen about a block away around the same time. Police say the keys were left inside that unlocked vehicle.

“Entering someone’s home is quite the violation in terms of the law but also of someone’s safety,” Verona Police Department Lt. David Dresser told News 3 Now on Tuesday. “Their home is their kingdom and it makes people feel violated.”

Anyone who has information on the car thefts or may have seen something in the area at the time is asked to call the Verona Police Department at (608) 845-7623.

Police say car thefts are often “crimes of opportunity,” and urged people to create a nightly lock-up routine to make sure all cars and exterior doors of their home are locked.
