MPD reports string of overnight catalytic converter thefts
MADISON, Wis. — Police are investigating another string of catalytic converter thefts after several vehicles on the city’s east side were stolen from overnight.
According to an incident report, six vehicles had their catalytic converters stolen from the following areas:
- 1200 block of Rutledge St.
- 200 block of Helena St.
- 1600 block of Fordem Ave.
- 1400 block of Williamson St.
- 1100 block of Jennifer St.
- 1400 block of Rutledge St.

This year alone, more than 300 catalytic converters have been stolen throughout Madison. Catalytic converters are hot targets for some thieves because they contain rare metals like palladium and rhodium.
